If you are planning to be in NOVA or the Washington DC area during the Presidents Day Weekend, then consider heading over to George Washington’s Mount Vernon for the weekend festivities.
Admission is Free on Monday, February 19th, but be sure to get there early! Parking fills up fast and timed-entry tickets to the mansion are first come, first served. Admission is normally $20 per adult, $12 for children ages 6-11, and free for children 5 and under.
Last year, I couldn’t get the boys out of bed on the free admission day and we paid for it. We arrived at Mount Vernon about 30 minutes after it opened and the parking lots were already at capacity. We found parking at a small park a little over a mile down the road. By the time we made it to the entrance of the estate, the only Mansion tours left were for the evening hours. We missed out on the tour and had to settle for simply exploring the grounds.
Don’t make the same mistake we did. Get there early, so you can enjoy the special events and see everything Mount Vernon has to offer.
Planned Schedule of Events for Monday, February 19, 2018
